We left Zell am See in the morning on Wednesday and we drove on a very turny road. It went pretty high over some mountains. We saw a lot of cows, sheep and bikers working hard going up and speeding down. It was very pretty. When we got down from the mountains into a a valley we drove a long way through a lot of tunnels to Ljubljana, Slonenia. It was really hot. Like 100 degrees. In Ljubljana we walked around and had drinks and dinner. We went to bed late- it was hot!
Today we woke up in Ljubljana and had breakfast in our hotel. Then we went to the market and hit the road. We drove about an hour to see the Lipica stallions from the Spanish riding school. Now my Mom is going to describe it since we couldn’t take any pictures during the training session.
Jen says: it was awesome to see the Lipizzaner stallions! We watched a morning training session. Five riders and stallions practiced in an indoor ring. They went through all their moves (for those who know and care: lots of collected warm up work, circles, cantering at an incredibly cadenced, slow gait, half passes, passage, pirouettes, and even mini caprioles. A man brought a sixth horse out and worked him from the ground. The horse went from passage to fully balancing on his hind legs. All the horses did their own work, never even coming close to colliding). As you can guess this was not as mesmerizing for my family but they were good sports and sat through it all.
After Lipica we went to a hill town in Croatia for lunch. It was delicious. Mom says this part of Croatia looks like Tuscany. Now we are in Rovinj. It is a beautiful town on the shore of the Adriatic Sea. We are staying in really awesome apartment.

Hi Zane! I LOVE your blog and the beautiful photos, and miss it if you skip a day! The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is look for your blog! Looks like it’s been a wonderful, fun, sometimes scary, beautiful trip! I’m not sure I know how to write back, but I’m trying this. Hope it works. Have been at the Craft Fair almost every day, but will stay in Hanover tonight so we can pack. It’s almost time for us to leave! Today it’s raining, first rainy day we’ve had. I hope it’s getting a little cooler where you are, and that you can swim. I’m happy your apartment is so awesome. Certainly your scenery has been! Love to all of you! Gram
Let me know if you received my comment, and then I will keep writing, and will try to teach Poppa how to do it. Love, Gram
Hello Zane:
wow, it looks like you are really enjoying the trip. Your pictures are wonderful & I enjoy reading your observations. Glad you liked Slovenia. I was there once about 15 years ago, it was & is a very pretty country.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Budapest next Wednesday.
Love
Poppa
Zane ………………. Some trip so far! I loved your hike in Austria ……. I would have been down on my hands and knees crawling along that narrow ridge. I’m so envious of you seeing those amazing Lipizzaner horses. It looks like you are having great weather. We look forward to seeing your next blog ……….. Granddady
Zane–Your grandma Jill sent me your blog address so I could follow your trip too. It sounds great and you write very well. Wish I could be travelling too. Love to Eva and mom and dad. Enjoy the rest of the trip–Budapest and Italy—I’m jealous!

Hi Zane (and Eva!)
Looks like you and your family are having a blast! Jen, I can’t believe that you got to see the Lipizzaner stallions training…I think that might be even more cool than watching them perform!
The pictures of the mountains from your drive to Rovinj reminded me a lot of the San Juan mountains in Colorado that we drove through this summer, near Telluride…My Mom says you know them well!
It is really fun to follow your trip with this blog—thanks!!!
Wyndom =)
